All children wereborn in Kentucky. "Ralph P etty, like his father, became an Elder inthe Primitive Baptist Church, serving for the sak e of serving hisMaster - and would never take any pay for working for his church. Lucy Embrey Petty gave birth to a daughter, Mary, on December 22,1855, (Marshall Co, KY birt h records) six months after her daughter,Nancy Jane, gave birth to her second child, Ralph P etty Quarles.Lucydied while Mary was an infant, and Nancy Jane took the child andnursed he r asher own, along with her son, Ralph. The baby, Mary,only lived a short time after the mo ther's death.(Lucy Manson)
