ENSLEY, LAWRENCE
GREENSBORO -- Mr. Lawrence Ensley, 100, formerly of Percy Street, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Moses Cone Extended Care.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Chapel with the Rev. Avon Craven officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.
Lawrence was born Jan. 24, 1905 in Denver, Colo. to the late Hardy Fletcher Ensley and Mary Manley Ensley. He was a member of State Street Church of God for 60 years serving as a deacon. Mr. Ensley retired as a loom fixer and supervisor from Cone Mills Revolution Plant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sisters and wife of 70 years, Mary Ann Batchelor Ensley.
Mr. Ensley is survived by two sons, Fred Ensley and wife Louise of Greensboro and Frank Ensley of Greensboro; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Chapel.
The family request that memorials be made to State Street Church of God Building Fund, 200 State Street, Greensboro, NC 27408.

I'm looking for descendants of Adolphus and Loucinda Emeline Wise Ensley for the Frederick Wise Family History that is being submitted soon to the printers. If anyone on this site is a part of this family and can submit their material within the next couple of weeks we can still get it in the book. I have some records from their sons James, Hardy and John, but not much else except the children and some grandchildren's names. Loucinda b. ca 1831 Lincoln Co., NC was dau of John and Margaret Brindle Wise who moved from Lincoln to Buncombe Co. 1850-1856. John was son of Henry Wise, son of Frederick Wise who was in Lincoln Co., NC by 1753. Margaret was dau of David Brindle also of Lincoln Co., but died in Catawba Co. after it was formed out of Lincoln in 1842.
