      Obituary: Clark Spendlove

      1927 ~ 2003

Dr. Clark Spendlove passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on December 8, 2003.

Born in Hurricane, UT, Oct. 19, 1927; the 6th of nine children born to George Isom Spendlove and Lilly May Petty. Clark was educated at Branch Agricultural College, the U of U, and Washington University where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He practiced painless dentistry in the Army and in Southern California for 39 years.

Clark married Eleanor Bennion April 8, 1955, in the Logan, Utah, Temple. They raised seven children: Lilly Ann (Dirk) Cotterell, Sue (Kevin) Jackson, Kerry (Camille) Spendlove, Jennifer (Tom) Burns, Sandy Wilson, Laura (Darrin) Crapo, Jon (Kim) Spendlove and Delilah (Ty) Sales. They now have 27 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

We had great times growing up with our dad. From family vacations, Dodger games, dinner in Chinatown, to flying kites, going on bike rides, and leg wrestling. He and our dear mom made our childhoods rich with love and fun, and prepared us for principled, meaningful adult lives.

Clark will be remembered as the best man we ever knew. A kind, gentle and faithful husband, father, friend and servant of his Heavenly Father. He devoted years of committed service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This included 11 years as Bishop of the San Fernando, CA, Ward, 9 years as President of the Granada Hills, CA Stake, as well as serving a 2 year church service mission with Mom. His calling as a temple worker also brought him much happiness.

Dad had a love for golf, working in the yard and the house. He will be greatly missed by his eternal companion, his family and friends and his ever-faithful dog, Fred. That's the story, and we're sticking to it!

A special thanks to all of the Doctors, Nurses, and Hospice workers who cared for Dad during his illness.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Crescent 7th Ward, 949 East 10600 South, Sandy. Friends may call on Thursday, December 11, 2003 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy and at the church on Friday, from 10: to 10:45 a.m. Interment to follow at Wasatch Lawn.

In lieu of flowers please send contributions of chocolate.
