      Mrs. Alice Owens Taken by Death

      Mrs. Alice Elizabeth Owens died at 4:40 o’clock Sunday afternoon at her home, 200 South Lancaster avenue. She was stricken with paralysis at 10:30 o’clock Sunday morning and unavailing efforts to save her were made by four physicians.
      Mrs. Owens was the widow of the late George W. Owens, formerly a Methodist minister, but later prominently identified with the lumber business.
      Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock Monday afternoon at Oak Cliff Methodist Church, Marsalis and Jefferson avenues. Dr. G. M. Gibson, Dr. Carl C. Gregory, Dr. O. T. Cooper and Dr. W. L. Tittle, pastor of Oak Clifff Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
      North Texas National Bank, of which a son of Mrs. Owens, Everett S. Owens, is president, will close Monday at noon for the rest of the day.
      Native of Texas.
      Mrs. Owens was born at Waxahachie, Dec. 1, 1857. She was the daughter of James Petty Apperson and Mary Catherine Apperson.
      For more than forty years Mrs. Owens had been a resident of Oak Cliff. She was converted at the old Prairie Valley Methodist Church, South, Dallas County, and became a member of this church when 18 years old. She was a charter member of Oak Cliff Methodist Church and had always been an active member of this congregation. The Methodist Hospital now being completed in Oak Cliff, had her support, as did every worth cause of the city.
      Surviving are the following children: Mrs. R. B. Spurgin, Mrs. L.W. Blaylock, Mrs. Lawrence Diamond, J. T. Owens, Everett S. Owens and George W. Owens. Another daughter, Mrs. Patsy Cole, died in 1912. Mrs. Owens is also survived by a brother, A. P. Apperson, Dallas, and two sisters. Mrs. E.B. Robbins, Dallas and Mrs. C. L. Browning, San Antonio.
      Pallbearers for Funeral.
      Active pallbearers will be M. H. Thomas, Dr. Homer Donald, C. S. Mitchell, C R. Burton, Dr. W. D. Jones and Henry Spragins.
