ALMA NIELSON PASSES AWAY AT FAMILY HOME
______________________
Alma Nielson, 68, died at his home here at noon Monday, death resulting from a paralytic stroke which he suffered about three weeks ago.
A native of Denmark, where he was born January 20, 1864, Mr. Nielson came to Utah with his parents when a small child. About 40 years ago he moved from Ephraim to Richfield, where, although not directly connected with public work, he has been a good citizen and has won many friends. For a number of years he was associated with the Borg brothers in the harness business. Twelve years ago he established his own harness shop, and was engaged in the business until he became ill several weeks ago.
Surviving Mr. Nielson are his widow, Mrs. Margia Funk Petty Nielson, to whom he was married September 12, 1916, and her two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Chell Nohr of Long Beach, California, Mrs. Jennie Adams of Los Angeles, Eldon Petty of Salina and Wm. Petty of Salt Lake. One sister, Mrs. Emma Olsen of Ephraim, survives also. Mr. Nielson had no children of his own.
Funeral services were held Wednesday forenoon at the Warner Mortuary, with Bishop W. L. Warner of the Richfield Second ward presiding. Speakers were G. W. Coons and Bishop Warner. Musical numbers were two violin solos by J.G. Hilgendorff, with piano accompaniment by Mrs. Hilgendorff; a vocal duet, “One Sweetly Solemn Thought, by Misses Ruby Thurber and Marien Bean, and a vocal quartet, “Jesus Lover of My Soul, by the Misses Madge, Una, Leah and Juana Peterson. L.P. Hansen offered the invocation, and the benediction was by C.W. Powell.
Interment was in the city cemetery. C. L. Bean dedicated the grave.
The beautiful flowers and the attendance of many friends at the services were a sincere expression of esteem for Mr. Nielson and his family.
