RELIEF SOCIETY FOLKS
HAVE A GOOD TIME.
____________
Ye olden tyme costume party given by the Castledale Relief Society on Thursday evening in honor of the teachers of the society was a big success. All the old wedding dresses, hoop skirts and thrown aside female paraphernalia was brought out and those who were not provided with these found some old time dress patterns and created costumes. The program and picnic were first enjoyed in Social hall and after that all retired to Petersen’s hall where dancing was indulged in for three hours. All the old time dances that anyone could remember were carried out and everyone present had a bushel or two of fun. It was here that the old time costumes of the ladies showed up to best advantage.
The program consisted of singing by Mr. and Mrs. Archer Willey and Mrs. Lucy Seely and recitations, D.T> Thomander, Mrs. Thomander, Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Williams, T. W. Dyches and O. Sorensen. Mrs. Mary Seely presided and remarks were made by President Mary A. Sorensen of the stake association and a letter read from the stake presidency to the local association by Mrs. J. E. King. Mrs. Eunice Petty dressed in bloomers performed several step dances in a light and airy manner.

TWO GOLDEN WEDDINGS
ON SAME DAY
___________
There were members and descendants of two families in Manti to whom this particular 4th of July meant very much more than to the average person. These were the families of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Fox and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Peacock. These two couples were united in marriage in this city July 4, 1860 by Judge Peacock the father of W. H. Peacock and Mrs. E. W. Fox. On the 4th the two couples celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of that union; their golden wedding at the Peacock orchard, the same ground they were married on and with two guests present who were guests at that wedding fifty years ago, Haslam Clark and Mrs. Eunice Petty.
Among those present were George Fox and family, E. W. Fox, Jr. and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson and Miss Clinty Jewkes of Orangeville, Mrs. Eunice Petty of Castledale and Franl Jewkes of Salt Lake City.
The program consisted in part speeches by E. W. Fox, Jr., Howard Peacock and W. H. Peacock, song by Jean Fox, step dance by Eunice Petty and a piano selection by Ruth Fox. There was a large gathering of the relatives and a good time is reported.

Kingdom of Emery
CASTLE DALE, Dec 23- Brought to an earlier death than would have been her lot, by the ravages of the Grim Reaper among her loved ones, Mrs. Eunice Petty of Castle Dale was called from this sphere last Tuesday after a comparatively short illness. Mrs. Petty returned about two week ago from a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Checketts in Helper, and was immediately taken sick. Everything that could be was done for her, but she gradually became worse until the end Tuesday night. She has had more than her share of trouble and sorrow in the last few months, and it is more than likely that her demise is partially due to this cause. Her son, Frank, was called to an untimely grave a few months ago and a brother, Gardner Snow of Manti, passed away but a little while afterward. Mrs. Petty was born in Missouri, February 5, 1850. Coming to Utah she resided in Manti and Sterling for some time, marrying Heber C. Petty at the former place. She came to Emery about twenty-seven years ago, being one of the first to enter the valley. Her husband died at the latter place August 22, 1902, and Mrs. Petty soon afterward came to Castle Dale, where she has resided since.
