SUCCUMBS IN BROWNWOOD, MONDAY
AUGUST 14, 1967
Funeral services for Charlie Andrew Karnes of
Goldthwaite were held in Wilkins Funeral Chapel at
5:oo o'clock Tuesday afternoon August 15, 1967.
Burial was in the Center City Cemetery at 9:00 o'clock
Wednesday morning, August 16. Services were
conducted by Rev. Sol Getz Funeral arrangements were
under the direction of the Roy Wilkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jack Ball, W.N. Swindle, Howard
Runnels, Jerry Piper, E.C. Hughes and Ben Warren.
Mr. Karnes was born August 22, 1883 in Goldthwaite
son of the late Noah Karnes and Alice Morgan Karnes.
He passed away in a Brownwood Nursing Home,
Monday August 14, 1967. He was a member of the
Gospel Mission Church. He moved back to
Goldthwaite from Brownwood in 1965.
On October 10, 1912 he was married to Miss Lucille
Nichols in Mills County.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lucille Karnes of
Goldthwaite; three sons, Bernon Karnes of Austin,
Weldon Karnes of Brownwood, and N.C. Karnes Sr of
Goldthwaite; two daughters, Mrs Charline Boyd of
Brownwood and Mrs Vada Shipman of Goldthwaite;
21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; three
sisters, Mrs Lillie Jones of Goldthwaite, Mrs. Myrtle
Doggett of Coleman and Izora Bamberl of Miami,
Oklahoma.
