  Stephen was a deaf-mute. He graduated Deaf and Dumb institute in Austin, TX. Buried: This is the double headstone of Francis Marion McClure and his son Stephen McClure. The graves are in the Plum Grove Cemetery in Plum, Texas. The face of all of the stones in this cemetery are facing eastward, a practice common in the mid 19th century, believing that the Arch Angel Gabriel would be coming from the east, so they would be prepared to rise and follow. Francis Marion is the son of Asa McClure, grandson of Samuel, and great grandson of Alice Young McClure.
