24 December 1799 - Administration on the estate of FRANCIS CLARK SR,dec'd, is requested by F rancis Clark, Jr., one of the Executors namedtherein, but contested by JAMES CLARK, JOHN MAH AN, THOMAS HIX andROBERT PRICE. Sundry witnesses being examined, the Court decreed thatth e said writing purporting to be the will be cancelled, and probatecannot be granted. Franci s Clark, Jr., prayed an appeal to the Courtof Appeals, which is granted, he entering into bo nd of 150 poundswith JAMES HIX and ANTHONY PREWITT HIS SURETIES. Francis Clark, Jr.,to pa y JOHN MOSS 22 shillings, 1 penny, for attending one day andtraveling 48 miles and back, an d to NANCY BOTTOM 2 shillings, 1penny, for attending one day. James Clark and John Mahan ap pointedto collect and preserve the estate of the decedent, pending decision,and they entere d into bond of 3,000 pounds with JOHN COWAN andWILLIAM EASTLAND their sureties.
