Abraham moved his family to Pittsylvania Co where he bought a large tract of land in Sandy River near Franklin Co. May 27 1772 he bought 210 acres on Aaron's Creek, a branch of Turkey Cocke Creek for 50 pounds from George Jefferson, first cousin of President Thomas Jefferson. Abraham bought four tracts from Virginia pursuant to 1799 legislation encouraging settlers by offering 'waste and unappropriated lands' for sale at 40 pounds per 100 acres: 320 acres surveyed Oct 29 1782, deed signed by Gov. Benjamin Harrison Jun 2 1784 Richmond VA; 96 acres; 400 acres; and 220 acres surveyed Apr 9 1801 and signed Jun 10 1802 by Gov.
