Mrs. Robbins Dies at 87 in Hospital Here
Mrs. Minnie Apperson Robbins, 87, a resident of Dallas for forty years, died Sunday in a Dallas hospital after a year’s illness.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Petty Apperson, pioneer settlers of Ellis and Dallas Counties.
She lived at 4545 Gloster Road.
Mrs. Robbins was born Feb. 19, 1865, in Waxahachie and moved to Wilmer when she was a girl. She married Elie Bradley Robbins there on Dec. 23, 1884, and they celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary in 1950. Robbins, who built the first suspension bridge over the Trinity River years ago, died Feb. 3, 1951.
The couple lived in Ferris, Ellis County, before coming to Dallas.
Mrs. Robbins attended the old Marvin College in Waxahachie and was a lifetime member of the Methodist church.
Surviving from her eight sons and one daughter are Willard B. Robbins Sr. and E. B. (Dick) Robbins, both of Dallas; Ed R. Robbins Sr. of Lubbock, Thomas C. Robbins Sr. of Larchmont, N.Y., and Mrs. Mary Shiels of Dallas; eight grandchildren and six great-grand-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the Geo. A. Brewer Funeral Chapel, 3603 Ross. The Rev. John Knox Bowling, pastor of Northridge Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Grove Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Bill Robbins, Henry Shiels, Robby Shiels, Ed Robbins, all grandsons, and Tom Beaird Jr., a nephew.
Honorary pallbearers will be doctors on the staff of Jones Eye, Ear Nose & Throat Hospital.
