MRS. H.N. MILLER Dies Suddenly.
Brief Illness Proves Fatal to Wife of Well-Known Columbia Citizen.
Mrs. Henry N. MILLER, 59 years of age, wife of a well-known businessman of this
city, died very suddenly at 6:10 O'Clock Thursday morning after having been sick
only a few days. She had been in poor health for the past two years and was able
to go out very little. A severe cold developed a few days prior to her death,
turned suddenly to pneumonia which, combined with a weakened physical condition,
brought the end very quickly. Mrs. MILLER was born at Crocus, this county,
05-Jan-1875, a daughter of James P. and Sarah A. MILLER, members of a pioneer
Adair family. She was reared at Crocus and educated in Columbia at the Male and
Female High School and the Christian College. While going to school here she met
Henry N. MILLER and their courtship culminated in marriage on 15-June-1898.
Before the wedding they bought a lot, built and furnished an attractive home, on
Burkesville Street where she lived until her death. Mrs. MILLE was avery devoted
wife and a great lover of flowers. Her home and yard had been considered one of
the most beautiful in Columbia for a number of years. She professed faith in
Christ when a very young girl but never united with any church. Funeral services
were held at the home Friday afternoon at 2 O'Clock, conducted by Reverend L.W.
DRAKE who was assisted by Reverend Perry L. STONE. Interment was in the City
Cemetery. Mrs. MILLER is survived by her husband, four brothers; A.A.MILLER,
and Dr. S.P. MILLER of Columbia, B.S. MILLER of Crocus, and N.B.MILLER of
Buffalo NY; and one sister, Mrs. A.H. BALLARD of Columbia. Another sister, Mrs.
Butler KELSAY of Glensfork died several years ago. She also leaves a number of
nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were Bruce MONTGOMERY, Horace CUNDIFF,
Horace WALKER, Albim MURRAY, W.I. INGRAM, Horace JEFFRIES, and Eros BARGER. The
honorary pallbearers were Judge Rollin HURT, Messrs. Mont CRAVENS, and J.W. COY.
(Shane's note: I am guessing that Salley is the wife of Henry, I had Salley was born abt 1874, her sister Sarah was born abt. 1872 this person was born 05-Jan-1875).
