Notes - SOURCE: BUSHONG BULLETIN 15:2 (SUMMER 1999) P. 28 - Five children were proven in Ross Co Ohio Chancery case dated 13 Oct 1827, in which heirs of John Bushong are protesting the Breedlove family taking over John's realestate and property. A complete transcript of this document appeared in the Bushong Bulletin, 1:2:3. In it, John Mitchell & Sally his wife, Jacob, Jemima & Delilah Bushong (children of James Bushong deceased)infants, vs Baylies Breedlove etal.
Among statements made in this document are: "...that the wife of said John Bushong and the mother and grandmother of your orator & others herein after mentioned have departed this life and the said John being old & inform was pirated and drawn into intimacy with one Elizabeth Breedlove, widow, and mother of Balies Breedlove; the marriage was solemnized on 11 Nov 1822 in this county, and Elizabeth with her family came to reside upon the land of John; John's children saw with regret that the said Elizabeth and sons were gaining an undue influence over their father, ...that their design was to wrest the farm from the old man, and if possible instead of breeding love to breed hatred malice and ill will between him and his own children. Some time after the conveyance was made, the said John Bushong, Nancy Young (wife of James Young) of age,and your orators Jacob Bushong,Jemima Bushong & Delilah Bushong, infants and children and heirs of James Bushong, son of John the elder and then lately deceased, that your orator John Mitchel & Sally his wife, for consideration since the decease of the ancestor had purchased all the right and title of the heirs John & George Bushong and James Young & Nacyhis wife... allright to the estate of their said Father, that the deceased John Bushong the ancestor left personal property of greatvalue..."
John Mitchell etal lost the case, but he later sued Baylies Breedlove for slander and was awarded $1,000 by the court. (Ross Co OhioChanceryRecords).
We believe she was actually Patrick Young's daughter, born the year of his death and so was probably given the name "Summers" since her mother married John Summers the same year of her husband's death. He would have been the only father she knew and it's likely he adopted her children. Read the comments under Isabella, legal documents mentioning their names, etc.

(Until I have proof that this is not the case, I will leave her with this family.)
Name:
- "Summers" was probably her last name, due to her mother's remarriage shortly after her father's death.
