  Friends of Metropolitan Archives of Nashville and Davidson Co. The Friends of Archives is a nonprofit chapter of The Friends of the Public Library of Nashville and Davidson County Mayors of Nashville An act to incorporate the town was passed by the Legislature September 11, 1806. It as made the duty of the sheriff of Davidson County to hold an election at the court house on the 1st of October, in each and every year, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and six Aldermen for the town. The day of election was changed to the first Monday in October each year, on Oct. 9, 1806. John Alexander McEwen 1857-1858 - John Alexander McEwen was born in 1822, probably in Fayetteville, Lincoln Co., TN, son of Robert Houston McEwen and Hetty Montgomery (Kennedy) McEwen.
