Chester Ensley
Asheville - Chester Ensley, of Asheville, passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at his home with his wife by his side.
Mr. Ensley was born on Dec. 1, 1919, in Marshall, the son of the late Geter and Maggie Rector Ensley. He was a veteran of the Navy serving during World War II and retiring in 1968 to the Fleet Reserve in Bainbridge Md. He was a member of the Oteen Baptist Church, the Fleet Reserve Unit 361 and of the American Legion Post 70. He most enjoyed his time playing on the Senior Citizen Bowling League.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edith Ensley; two sons, Michael L. Ensley of Lavergne, Tenn. and Richard C. Ensley and his wife, Mary, of Virginia Beach, Va.; his sister, Pauline Morgan of Swannanoa; a granddaughter, Amanda Lee Ensley of Virginia Beach, Va.; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The Revs. Gayle Brown and Bill Snyder will officiate. Interment will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Williams Funeral Service.
