      Walter Omer Wade passed away 25 March 2005 at his home in El Paso. He was born in Phenix City, Alabama on 29 June 1917, to Lester and Betty Wade, and has been resident of El Paso since 1954. He is survived by his wife Grace Newsome, one son, Gerald, two daughters, Sandra and Debra, 18 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren. Walter retired from the Army in 1957 after 20 years of service where he rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel. During his Army career, Walter was the recipient of two Bronze Stars with Valor (Germany and Korea), Merit of Reconnaissance, Air Medal, Commendation Ribbons, and various other medals. While initially coming to El Paso in the military, Walter and Grace retired in El Paso where he joined the insurance adjuster firm of TBL. As part of TBL, Walter became a leader in the El Paso insurance industry. Walter was involved with athletic programs at Burgess, Eastwood, City Softball, and with the LDS church. He was a charter member of the El Paso Chapter of the Military Order of World Wars where he served in various capacities. As a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Walter served in various organizations involved with church youth, sports, and priesthood. Viewing will be at the Sunset Funeral Home, Giles and Carolina, Wednesday, 30 March, 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The funeral will be at the Lee Trevino LDS Chapel, Thursday, 31 March, 11:30 AM; followed by internment at the Fort Bliss Military Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home - East.
