    • He was born on Nov 20, 1944, in Columbus, the son of Lucye B. and Oscar D. Williams.

      James passed away at the Columbus Hospice House. He was 57 years old and was a Sheriff's Deputy with the Russell County Sherriff's Department, Vice-President of the Marcus Bruce Lee Fraternal Order of the Police Lodge in Phenix City and a delegate to the State Association. A member of the First United Methodist Church in Phenix, a veteran of the Vietnam War having serviced in the US Marine Corp.

      He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Lutz, he is survived by a daughter Jolean Williams and granddaughter Ava Marie Williams both of New Orleans, LA.

      A memorial service for James was held April 7, 2001 at the First Methodist Church in Phenix City, Alabama and the family received friends there following the service. Those wishing to honor his memory were asked to contribute to the Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909
