  Book by Nell H. Newsome and Mary T. Newsome" Joseph Thomas Newsome and Susan Reynolds and related families". Through the years the name has been spelled D'Nuzzum, Nusum, Newsum, Newsam, Newsome, and Newsome. The first family known, went from France to England about 1065 during the invasion of England by William the Conqueror and settled in Yorkshire County. THe name was then changed from D'Nuzzum to the English spelling. Some of the Newsoms later settled in Lancashire County, England.
