  1. 1.  Young, John died in 1747.

    Notes:

*John Young (Andrew Lamont Young, Sir John Lamont) m. Annie Houston inCounty Antrim before 1 695. He is the only known son of Andrew andMary Adair Young, but there were probably others . Possible siblingsfor John include: James, Robert, Matthew, Charles and William, asfound i n the Carmoney Church records in County Antrim, NorthernIreland. There were possibly others . Many Youngs still live in theLarne area who probably descend from Andrew Young. Annie Hous ton isfrom the same family as Texas' Sam Houston. There are some entries inChalkley's Cour t References of the Scots/Irish Settlement of AugustaCo., VA that suggest that John may hav e come to America with hisadult children. If these references are to this John Young, then i tis a certainty that he had a brother James, as James is madeadministrator of this John's e state and referred to as John'sbrother. This John died in 1747. James then died before he co uld getJohn's estate settled. Research is ongoing.

    Notes:

    7. William Young b. County Antrim and migrated to America at an earlybut unknown date, settl ed in Augusta Co., VA, later migrating to KYbefore 1777, when KY was still dangerous India n territory andeveryone lived in a fort or station, dying in 1818 in KY and wasreportedly m arried three times. Only the first name of his thirdwife, Mary, is known at this time. Willi am was a Revolutionary Warsoldier who may have served only in the forts/stations of the KY frontier. He is listed as a member of Capt. Boyle's Company, out ofLogan's Fort, and statione d at forts along Dick's River in LincolnCo. A Col. Young is later identified in a Draper int erview with Mrs.Arnold as being at Craig's Station. In the Fall of 1783, all theinhabitant s of Craig's Station went to Gilbert's Creek Station, including the William Young family. Al l remained at Gilbert's CreekStation except Capt. John Craig. William claimed two 400 acre l andgrants on Gilbert's Creek, one was denied, probably having had a validclaim by someone e lse. To get the grant he received, he had to havebeen in KY after January 1778 and before Oc tober 1779. There is aChalkley court reference dated 1779, listing, among many others, bot hWilliam Young and William Hughes, who would become William Young's sonThomas' father-in-la w, as delinquent on their taxes because they have"gone to Kentucky." This delinquent tax lis t was for 1777 or 1778,making their trip to KY fall into the time frame in which son Thoma swas born. He was probably born shortly after their arrival in KY, mostlikely at Logan's Fo rt.

  6. 7.  Young, James Descendancy chart to this point (1.John1) was born after 1711 in County Antrim, Ireland; died on 21 Dec 1790 in , Augusta, Virginia; was buried in Augusta Stone Cemetery, Augusta, Virginia.

    Notes:

*James Young b. County Antrim, son William.

It is my theory that my James Young, father to Mary Young married toGeorge Glenn, is the Jam es who is the son of John and Annie Young. Isay this for the following reasons. John and Ann ie's son James waslikely born after 1711 and could easily could have lived until 1793when m y James Young's will was probated. He would have been anappropriate age to be a grandparen t to the large number ofgrandchildren he names. When his possible nephew through brother John, Robert Young died and left a will in 1793, he names George Glenn, husband of Mary Young (J ames' son-in-law and Robert's probablecousin-in-law) as his executor. Lastly, he is the onl y James notaccounted for in this time period that fits my James Young.

Persons listed in my Jame's young's will in Augusta Co., VA, Will BookVII, pg. 292, are in t his abstract by Dr. Robert Frey. "16 Nov 1790:To Agnes Miller, wife to Wert Miller, daughte r to George Glenn; toJames Glenn, son to George Glenn; to William Glenn, son to GeorgeGlenn ; to Sarah Glenn, daughter to George Glenn; to Martha Glenn, daughter to George Glenn; to Hug h Glenn, son to George Glenn; to MaryGlenn, daughter to George Glenn, infant; to Margaret, E sther,Elizabeth, Martha, John, James, William Bing, children to John Bing;to son-in-law Geo rge Glenn, to son-in-law John Bing, executors.Teste: Robert Young, Jr (probable nephew).; Ro bert Young, Sr.(probable brother); Sarah Young (Sister in law, daughter orgrandaughter?). P roved 21st December 1790, by all witnesses. GeorgeGlenn and Wm. Young (possible brother) qua lified."

James Young apparently only bequethed items to grandchildren of twodaughters. (CL-185) (Not e that these Glenn grandchildren are listedin the indentical order in Hugh Glenn's family bi ble and that Marywas simply underage 21 at the time.) (CL-185) It's possible that Jamesonl y had 2 daughters who made it to adulthood and that his wife haddied by the time he wrote hi s will.

According to "Augusta County Heritage Book" he died on Dec. 21, 1790and was in the America n Revolution as stated on his gravesite.

If he is the James who is the son of John and Annie Young, then heobtained a patent for 43 6 acres of land in 1749 in Beverly Manor(later to become Augusta Co., VA) as do his brothers . Their land isadjacent to each other. James borders on Robert Young's land, to thenorth, P atrick Martin's to the east, Jacob Lockhart to the south, andWilliam Vance to the west. He a ppears to fit the James Young who hada mill as he is listed with his brothers and neighbor s below when aroad is being built connecting James Young's mill to Richey's SmithShop to Bu channan's Mills which is south and slightly east of hisproperty.

The following records from Chalkley might apply to this James orpossibly to the James who wa s a brother to the original John Youngwho died in 1741. Another was married to Mary McComb e and died in1805. Ones starred definitely apply to the James who owned land inBeverly Mano r by 1749.
