After her husband's death she returned to Blanding, where she made her home. She did a great deal of temple work and died in 1940, the last of the original Moulton Family (p. 527 "How Beautiful Upon the Mountains" DUP).

-Violet Moulton Diamond, 95, of Springville, passed away February 6, 2001.

She was born June 22, 1905 in Chapin, Idaho to George Franklin and Ada Lenora Cluff Moulton. She married Lewis B. Diamond on Nov. 18, 1925 in Salt Lake City. He preceded her in death in January of 1978.

Violet was active in the LDS Church, serving in many positions. She was a member of the DUP and was a volunteer quilter at the State Hospital for 20 years. Violet enjoyed traveling with her friends and loved a good game of cards. The thing she loved most was being with her family.

She is survived by her children: Jay (Shirley) Diamond, Springville; Dale (Toni) Diamond, Ridgecrest, CA; Joan (Robert) Barlow, Bountiful, UT; Bliss (Lori, deceased) Diamond, Orange, CA; Verl (Joan) Diamond, Rigby, ID; Lynn (Linda) Diamond, Fountain Valley, CA. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2001 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville. Friends may call from 9:30 until time of service. Burial will be in the Springville City Cemetery.

GEORGE FRANKLIN MOULTON



George Franklin Moulton was born 19 March 1863 at Heber, Wasatch Co., Utah. His parents were Thomas and Sarah Denton Moulton and he was the youngest of ten children. Father had three brothers and three sisters born in Irchester, Northamptonshire. England. Another brother was born on ship while the family were coming to America. Two more brothers were born in Utah, one in Provo and one in Heber.

Father's parents were early-day converts to the Latter-day Saints Church, coming to Utah with the ill-fated Willie Handcart Company of 1856.

Grandfather Moulton was a very strict man and expected his boys to keep busy. If the boys had some friends stop after school he would ask them if they didn't have work to do at home.

Father went to school at Heber. He tells of one of his school masters. It seems that father had done something that his teacher didn't like so as punishment he hung father up by his thumbs. An older brother came in and cut father down and told the school master not to do such a thing again.

Father's early life was spent helping his father farm at Heber. At the age of 20 he married Ada Lenora Cluff, the eldest daughter of Henry and Kezia Russell Cluff. They were married 27 September 1883 in the old Endowment House in Salt Lake City.

They made their home at Keetley, Wasatch County, Utah, where father worked in the mine. She also worked at the Ontario drain tunnel at Keetley. While they lived at Elkhorn (Keetley), six children were born to them: Sarah, born 6 Feb. 1884 and died the same day; George Cluff, born 17 Dec. 1885, married Ethel Griffiths, died 13 June 1913; Hattie May, born 13 Apr. 1888, married John Williams and died Dec. 1965; Ada Lenora, born 6 Jan. 1891, married Alma Moulton and died 10 Sept 1940; Hannah Pearl, born 22 Feb. 1893 and died 9 Mar. 1893; Rodney Earl, born 19 Apr. 1894, married to Maybell Bates.

In 1894 they decided to move to Idaho. I'm not sure how many went but I guess that is a story in itself. It was a long trip from Heber to Chapin, Teton Co, Idaho, in a wagon. Mother carried Rodney, a very fat baby, on a pillow.

Father homesteaded 160 acres of ground at Chapin Creek in Idaho. After they got a house built and some farming done, father returned to Park City, Utah, to work.

Our brother Bacil Dean was born 20 April 1887 at Chapin, married Eldora Day and died 25 Apr. 1968. After Bacil was born Mother returned to Keetley where Forest Denton was born 10 Feb. 1901 and died 12 days later. They then returned to Chapin where three more babies were born: Lynn Russell, born 8 Mar. 1902 and died 29 Jan. 1905; Violet. born 22 June 1905 and married Lewis Burton Diamond; Urcle Keith, born 23 Mar. 1908 and married LaVieve Fillmore.

In 1910 Father went to work in the Moose Creek sawmill. It was while he was working there that a forest fire started. We were all moved out of the house and across the creek while the men fought the fire, which burned to within a few feet of the house we lived in. Later, while working at the Trail Creek sawmill, Father got his hand in the planing saw and cut three of his fingers quite badly. Mother had to hook the horses to the buggy and take him about 20 miles to Driggs, Idaho, to the doctor. Luckily Father didn't loose his fingers but the accident did leave his middle finger crooked.

In 1911 he and his son-in-law, Alma, were cutting timber in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Alma's axe slipped and cut his foot. It was winter and there was no doctor in Jackson Hole. By the time one was brought from Driggs, Alma had died. While still at the Trail Creek sawmill son George was killed by lightning on 13 June 1913, leaving a wife and one son.

The family moved into Victor, which was at the end of the railroad, and operated a restaurant and hotel. After operating the restaurant for two years they moved back onto the farm where they kept dairy cows.

In July 1917, during World War I, son Rodney left for the Army, spending two years in France. Son Bacil joined the Army the following spring but never did go overseas.

When influenza was so bad in 1918 we all were sick but Father didn't go to bed at all. About this time daughter Lenora was divorced and Mother and Father took her three children to raise. They kept them until they were grown.

In 1920 we moved to Utah, first to Flowell, west of Fillmore, in Millard County, where Father rented a farm. There son Bacil was married to Eldora Day. Four years later we moved to Provo in Utah County. Father farmed out where the Pioneer Drivein Theater now stands. He also worked at Castilla. In 1926 Father, Mother, and Urcle moved the few miles to Springville where they spent some time farming in Hobble Creek Canyon near Kelly's Grove.

While living in Springville, Father became ill with cancer. Daughter Lenora had him come to Bingham Canyon to see a Doctor Richards. He gave Father little hope and finally, on Dec. 11th 1933, Father passed away in the Bingham Canyon Hospital. He was buried in the Heber Cemetery.

Father was deeply religious but never forced his religion on anyone. While we lived at Chapin, Father was very active in the Church, serving as President of the Young Men’s Mutual from 1900 to 1902 and in the bishopric as first counselor from 1902 to 1909.

On 27 Sept. 1933 Father and Mother celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with four of their remaining six children in attendance. There were also 11 grandchildren.

Salmonella Typhi lives only in humans. Persons with typhoid fever carry the bacteria in their bloodstream and intestinal tract. In addition, a small number of persons, called carriers , recover from typhoid fever but continue to carry the bacteria. Both ill persons and carriers shed S. Typhi in their feces (stool).

You can get typhoid fever if you eat food or drink beverages that have been handled by a person who is shedding S. Typhi or if sewage contaminated with S. Typhi bacteria gets into the water you use for drinking or washing food. Therefore, typhoid fever is more common in areas of the world where handwashing is less frequent and water is likely to be contaminated with sewage.

Once S. Typhi bacteria are eaten or drunk, they multiply and spread into the bloodstream. The body reacts with fever and other signs and symptoms.

HIGHLAND, UT--Jack Francis Moulton, age 86 of Highland, Utah died Oct. 30, 1999, at the American Fork Hospital of causes incident to age.

He was born Jan. 26, 1913, in Provo, Utah, son of George Francis and Vera Stubbs Moulton. Married LaVone Kunkel,

March 28, 1941, in Heber City, Utah. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Jack was a professional glazer and owned "Jack's Glass & Sporting Goods Store" in Heber City for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a Petty Officer 1st Class. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in several callings. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Booster Club and Riding Club in Heber City and he loved fishing.

Survived by his wife, LaVone of Highland; one son and four daughters, Vaughn K. (Karen) Moulton, Highland; Sydney (Roger) Taylor, Atlanta, GA; Kathleen (Carl) Buhler, Lehi; Madeleine (Stephen) Gale and June K. (Claude) Hicken, both of Heber; 26 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen M. Gullickson and Afton M. Schear, both of St. George. He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Stephanie Moulton and Justin Buhler.

Funeral, Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the Highland Stake Center, 9600 North 6800 West. Friends may call at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Heber City Cemetery with interment services at 2:30 p.m.

Contributions suggested to the LDS Missionary Fund and/or the Nauvoo Temple Building Fund.

Deceased Name: Deaun Moulton Weed
Deaun Moulton Weed departed this "frail existence" March 12, 1999, following a valiant five-year struggle with the effects of multiple myeloma.

This Lovely Lady came into the world February 20, 1919, in Heber City, Utah, the daughter of Hyrum Chase and Margaret Lillian Cummings Moulton. For 80 years she has been a source of joy and happiness to many who knew and loved her. Her entire life epitomized the "true love of Christ."

Deaun attended school in Heber City and Salt Lake City, graduating from South High School in 1937. She later attended Brigham Young University. On August 28, 1946, she married Floyd Barg Weed in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of six children whom she fondly referred to as her "Weed Patch". She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served faithfully from her earliest years as an organist, teacher, leader of youth and Relief Society and president of the ward Primary at age 70. From 1944 to 1945 she served in the Southern California Mission. From 1985 to 1988 she served as companion to her husband as mission president in the Thailand Bangkok Mission. They also served together as full-time missionaries on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, a wonderful experience.

Deaun is survived by her husband, Floyd, and their six children: Marilyn Abney (K.C.) of Orem, Utah; Ranonne Cottrell (Brent) of Clifton, Virginia; Randall F. Weed (Brenda) of Henderson, Nevada; Janice McKinnon (Paul) of Austin, Texas; Stephen M. Weed (Heidi) of Boise, Idaho; and Karen Barker (David) of Salt Lake City; with 30 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Brothers and sisters: Evelyn McDougal (Delmer), Maxine Owen Webb (Lavar), Floyd Chase Moulton (Elaine), E. Jay Moulton (Betty), Rex C. Moulton (Jackie), Mardene Folkersen (Ronald), and Dale E. Moulton also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Norma Montgomery (Neal) and Fern Chapman (David); and brother, Duane Moulton.

A special service will be held for Deaun at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at the Cottonwood Heights Stake Center, 6890 South 2225 East. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and at the stake center on Wednesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, Deaun suggests donations to the Primary Children's Medical Center.

Multiple myeloma is a cancer of your plasma cells, a type of white blood cell present in your bone marrow — the soft, blood-producing tissue that fills in the center of most of your bones. The cause of this disease isn't known.

Plasma cells usually make up less than 5 percent of the cells in your bone marrow. But if you have multiple myeloma, a group of abnormal plasma cells (myeloma cells) multiplies to make up more than 10 percent of the cells in your bone marrow. The result can be erosion of your bones. The disease also interferes with the function of your bone marrow and immune system, which can lead to anemia and infection. More infections tend to occur later in the disease. Multiple myeloma may also cause problems with your kidneys.

The disease is called multiple myeloma because abnormal myeloma cells can occur in multiple bone marrow sites in your body.

About 47,000 Americans have been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, and nearly 15,000 people are diagnosed with the disease each year. Multiple myeloma is responsible for more than 10,000 deaths in the United States annually.

If you have the disease but you're not experiencing symptoms, you may just need your doctor to monitor your condition. A variety of treatments are available if you're experiencing symptoms.

Evelyn Moulton McDougal, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away March 29, 2003 after a two year battle with cancer.

She is survived by her three sons, Gary (Karen), Bryan (Denise), Curtis (Lori); two daughters, Marlene (Ron) Barbano,

Sharon (Greg) Arnoldus; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her lifetime companion, Delmer W. McDougal, whom she met at BYU, 1945. They were married Aug 27, 1948, Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She was a faithful lifelong member of the LDS Church. Evelyn was born in Heber City, UT July 6, 1920 to Hyrum and Lillian Cummings Moulton, the fourth of 11 children.

She is survived by four of her brothers, Floyd, E. Jay, Rex, Dale; and sisters, Maxine Own Webb, Mardene Folkersen Provost. Her sisters Norma, Fern, Deaun; and brother, Duane, preceded her in death.

During World War II, she worked at Ft Douglas and also spent many years with the Kirton and McConkie law firm. She believed in hard work, education and devotion to family, all principles she passed on to her family.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Evelyn's sister, Maxine, for her loving care of Mother during the past two years. Also, special thanks to Jeannie Morris for her loving care and kindness.

Services will be Tues. April 1, 12 noon McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd, where friends may call Mon. 6-8 p.m. and Tues. one hour prior to the funeral. The family suggests a donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in lieu of flowers.
